What We Do

Setting Children Up for Success

We collaborate with families and 50+ community partners to cultivate a thriving Bachman Lake neighborhood. Together with the community, we pull the four levers – Early Childhood, Upper Elementary School Support, Parent Leadership & Advocacy, and Family Well-Being – that are critical to set each child up for success.

Early Childhood (Birth-2nd Grade)

GOALS 

  • Increased awareness of the importance of early education 

  • More families accessing high-quality programs 

WHAT WE’RE DOING

  • Lumin Education’s Bachman Lake Community School, AVANCE North Texas and other programs located at the Bachman Lake Together Family Center 

  • 2025-2026 Pre-K registration and enrollment campaign, led by Bachman Lake Together in collaboration with local parent leaders and Dallas ISD, resulted in 91% of Pre-K registrations in Bachman Lake

Upper Elementary School Support (3rd-6th Grade)

GOALS 

  • Sustaining and supporting early learning gains across Bachman Lake schools

  • Expand access to attendance support, academic enrichment, and quality out-of-school time

WHAT WE’RE DOING

  • Awareness campaigns to prevent chronic absenteeism and boost attendance.

  • Partnerships with Dallas ISD and out-of-school time organizations with academic enrichment and holistic family supports.

Parent Leadership & Advocacy

GOALS 

  • More parents equipped as community leaders in schools and neighborhoods 

  • More community organizations developing and engaging with parent leaders

WHAT WE’RE DOING

  • Bachman Lake Together sponsors the Community Action Network (CAN). Participants, often immigrants new to Dallas, learn about the importance of early education and how to advocate in the U.S. education system, then ultimately become volunteer leaders.

Family Well-Being

GOALS 

  • Families have access to programs and resources relevant to their goals and needs 

  • Promote mental health and wellness of parents and their children

WHAT WE’RE DOING

  • 81 workshops, 240 hours of mental health counseling and 200 bags of produce were provided to families in the 2024-2025 school year.

A Successful Start Begins with Shared Opportunity 

What started as a school supply drive in 2020 has developed into a neighborhood summer tradition for families in Bachman Lake. Hundreds of families and children attended this year’s A Successful Start: Annual Back-to-School Campaign, Bachman Lake Together’s month-long initiative designed to equip local families with the tools, resources, and support they need before the 2026-2027 school year.

On September 26, Bachman Lake Together celebrated Hispanic Heritage Night with families, partners, and volunteers from across our community. Guests enjoyed a beautiful folklorico performance, explored interactive tables from local organizations, and connected with neighbors. Thanks to the dedication of 36 volunteers and 15 partners, the evening was full of joy, learning, and family-centered celebration.

Thursday, June 13, marked a memorable occasion for Bachman Lake Together (BLT) as we celebrated the culmination of a unique and inspiring collaboration. Parent leaders in our Community Action Network, in partnership with the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA), unveiled their individual art pieces crafted in response to the thought-provoking exhibition "When You See Me". This special exhibition, hosted by the DMA Center for Creative Connections (C3), sheds light on the narratives of underrepresented communities, inviting reflection and dialogue on inclusion and representation.
