A New Chapter for Bachman Lake Together

Since 2009, Bachman Lake Together has united families, partners and supporters around a shared goal: ensuring every child in Bachman Lake is ready for kindergarten. 

And together, we’ve made meaningful progress. Access to high-quality Pre-K has expanded tenfold. Pre-K enrollment has grown. Parents are leading, advocating and strengthening networks of support across the neighborhood. 

We’ve proven what’s possible when a community comes together around its youngest learners. But families have shared something important with us: this work does not stop at kindergarten.

Growing With Families

As children grow, families are navigating more than academics. They are engaging with school, social and community dynamics that increase the demands on the whole family.  

Extending support through the elementary school years sustains early progress while deepening the relationships, confidence and leadership families have built over time. It ensures families stay connected to coordinated support in Bachman Lake, so children thrive in school and their families and neighborhood grow stronger together.    

That’s why Bachman Lake Together is evolving its mission. 

While we remain deeply committed to early childhood education, we are expanding our focus through the elementary school years (K–6) and strengthening four foundations that help children and families thrive: 

• Early Childhood Education 

• Upper Elementary Support 

• Family Well-Being 

• Parent Leadership and Advocacy 

These priorities reflect what families have asked for and what long-term opportunity requires: sustained, coordinated support over time. 

What This Means

Our collaborative work will continue to focus on the critical early years — and now extend into the elementary years to strengthen not only academic progress, but also family well-being, leadership and community connection. 

We will build on our existing efforts by: 

• Supporting strong school attendance and literacy development 

• Expanding family well-being resources 

• Deepening opportunities for parents to lead and advocate 

• Strengthening coordination among partners across the neighborhood 

This next chapter is not a shift away from our work. It is a thoughtful extension of what has already proven effective, ensuring families remain supported as children grow. 

What Remains the Same

Our core beliefs have not changed: 

• Every child deserves the opportunity to grow strong in the neighborhood they call home. 

• Families are leaders in shaping that future. 

• Communities flourish when they are connected and growing together. 

• We remain rooted in Bachman Lake. 

• We remain guided by community voice. 

And we remain committed to bringing partners together through a place-based, collective-impact approach focused on neighborhood priorities.
