Two generations of graduates walked hand in hand across the stage on Thursday, May 14, proving that when parents succeed, their children do, too. Held at the Bachman Recreation Center, the ceremony honored Bachman Lake Together's Community Action Network (CAN) parent leaders and their children for their growth and shared success.

We’ve proven what’s possible when a community comes together around its youngest learners. But families have shared something important with us: this work does not stop at kindergarten..

Every program, every success story, and every milestone has been fueled by strong partnerships with organizations that share our belief in the power of parents and community. Our role as a backbone has allowed us to align efforts and intentionally collaborate to make our work deeper, more creative, and more responsive to families’ needs. Our partnership with KERA's Education Team is just one example of that impact in action.

On September 26, Bachman Lake Together celebrated Hispanic Heritage Night with families, partners, and volunteers from across our community. Guests enjoyed a beautiful folklorico performance, explored interactive tables from local organizations, and connected with neighbors. Thanks to the dedication of 36 volunteers and 15 partners, the evening was full of joy, learning, and family-centered celebration.

This year, preparing for the new school year wasn’t just about one day; it was a whole community campaign designed to support families in every way they need. Over the weeks leading up to July 26, we hosted workshops focused on health, literacy, attendance, and mental health, reaching dozens of families both virtually and in person.  

At this year’s CAN graduation, Bachman Lake families celebrated the power of parent leadership and early learning, as two generations crossed the stage together—reminding us that when families lead, communities thrive.

Bachman Lake Together (BLT) is proud to welcome four exceptional leaders to its Board of Directors: Angelica Leveroni Gomez, María del Carmen Hernández, Leslie Garner, and Yosira Rodriguez.

Our annual back-to-school fair ‘A Successful Start’ held on July 27, 2024, brought together over 376 family and community members to Bachman Lake Together with a shared commitment to learning and preparation for a new school year.

Thursday, June 13, marked a memorable occasion for Bachman Lake Together (BLT) as we celebrated the culmination of a unique and inspiring collaboration. Parent leaders in our Community Action Network, in partnership with the Dallas Museum of Art (DMA), unveiled their individual art pieces crafted in response to the thought-provoking exhibition "When You See Me". This special exhibition, hosted by the DMA Center for Creative Connections (C3), sheds light on the narratives of underrepresented communities, inviting reflection and dialogue on inclusion and representation.

At the Better Block @ Bachman Lake Grand Opening on Saturday, June 1, we celebrated the power of placemaking, strategic partnerships and community voice.
