Celebrating 10 Years of the Family Center
The Bachman Lake Together Family Center turns 10! For the past decade, the Family Center has been at the heart of the Bachman Lake neighborhood, bringing the community together to strengthen the place they call home.
Where a Neighborhood Comes Together
Over a decade ago, the Zero to Five Funders Collaborative partnered with the Bachman Lake neighborhood, home to one of the highest populations of children under five, to build a space where families could gather, connect, and access early childhood support in their community.
In 2016, that vision became the Bachman Lake Together Family Center.
In its founding, the Bachman Lake Together Family Center brought together four community organizations providing dual-generational programming: AVANCE North Texas, Catholic Charities Dallas, The Concilio, and Lumin Education.
Soon after, what began with a focus on early childhood has since grown into a broader family-centered hub.
Now, over 50 community partners contribute to a shared vision where parents grow as leaders and advocates to support their school-aged children and families’ well-being.
“Over the past decade, we have seen that same power of place come to life in Bachman Lake as parents become leaders, children thrive, and families help shape the future of their community,” Executive Director Dr. Olga Martinez Hickman said. “That is what we celebrate, not just ten years of impact, but the potential to change the trajectory of generations.”
